WordPress Hot Topics
The end of this past June, I attended the Reno WordCamp. Wordcamps are held year-round and world-wide to an audience of people just beginning to use Wordpress, to the experts that are actually behind it’s creation. I had been wanting to go to one of these Wordcamps for a longtime and was excited to go to expand my skills using Wordpress.
As a website designer I have moved from designing and building websites with HTML to strictly using Wordpress for my content management system. I love the fact that Wordpress has it all. It has the flexibility to be designed to the meet the needs of my clients, it has the ease of use for those of my clients who want to learn how to use it, it is search engine friendly and it is improving all the time. It now powers 14.7% of the world’s top one million websites. WordPress is currently the most popular CMS in use on the Internet today.
So, hungary to keep up on all the newest information I zoomed up the hill to Reno to find out what the hot topics on Wordpress are.
Informative Website for Business Women
Women on Business, I have been following this blog for a while now and have booked marked almost all of what I have read. Women on Business is a website to promote the success of business women by providing valuable information in the area of online marketing. The most recent blog, “5 Costly Website Mistakes and How to Avoid Them” by Jess Webb, has some great information that I want to pass on to you.
I outlined the information for you here:
#1. Leaving YOU out of the website.
This is so true. How many times have you come across a site that is intriguing but there is no indication of who is behind the website. I don’t know about you but I want to know a name, see a photo and read some kind of bio to make me feel more connected to that person. Give it your personal touch.
Is It Easy to Subscribe to Your Blog?
What does it mean to subscribe to a blog or website? Do you make it easy for your visitors to subscribe?
If you have a blog that offers free information that is interesting or of value to your visitors, they’ll want to stay in touch through a process called subscribing. They can subscribe using RSS which means, Really Simple Syndication.
RSS is usually in the form of a button you click that looks like this: Make sure this button is in an easy to locate area on your blog or website. Most websites place this at the top of the page near the list of blog posts. You may also wish to add it to the end of each blog post with a reminder to subscribe. This way your reader doesn’t have to search for it after they have finished reading your blog.
What is the primary purpose of your website?
People visit your site because they are interested in or attracted to its content. Once they are there you need to show them exactly what action to take. To convert your visitor to a qualified lead, you need a compelling call-to-action on every page. This is important because visitors don’t always enter your website from your home page.
