Part One: 2017 California Star Light Trip to Vancouver, British Columbia
My husband and I enjoyed our train trip to Denver last year so much that we thought we would take another trip only in a different direction. This time we rode the California Star Light from Sacramento to Vancouver, British Columbia. We planned to stay in BC 5 days instead of 2 days like we did in Denver.
We caught the train at midnight in Sacramento and greeted by a wonderfully helpful porter. She took us to our room that had our beds made and ready to craw into.
It was difficult to fall asleep quickly but the clickity clack and the rocking motion was relaxing.
Before we knew it the sun was up and the passengers were milling around getting ready for the day.
Breakfast served in the dinning car with views of bodies of water, farms and fields, and beautiful mountains.
As we meander along the track these artful sites along the way perked my interest. The coast, lined with colorful homes with docks in their yards ready for departure across the sea.
These colorful buildings staked side by side adds interest and constant color to the sometimes foggy gray coastline.
Graffiti so perfectly painted on the sides of train cars with high contrast to stand out from a distance. The lettering style and placement of the words looking professionally done.
I love the typography that was used for this Union Pacific sign placed on the side of a station, retro yet modern.
After lunch then dinner, we arrived in Seattle around 8:00pm. I had time to work on some projects along the way. Ironically our oldest son who is a pilot happened to be overnighting in Seattle, this was a pleasant surprise. He picked us up at the train station and did some site seeing. We’ll pick up the train again in the morning and head into Vancouver.
Next post fun times in Seattle. [Click here to read on ]
